Dr. Jyothis Abraham-Cohen is New York and New Jersey licensed therapeutic Optometrist. She is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry where she received a combined degree of Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Sciences. During her education at SUNY, she was the recipient of merit scholarships. As part of her internship, Dr. Cohen worked at Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital in Newburgh, New York and at Omni Eye Services in Rochelle Park and Iselin. After graduation, Dr. Cohen completed a residency in ocular disease emphasizing glaucoma management also at SUNY. For her Master’s thesis, Dr. Cohen studied myopia and published her results in the Journal of Optometric Vision Science. She also presented a research poster in glaucoma at the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Cohen received additional training in low vision through courses provided at the Lighthouse for the Blind in New York. She also worked for the New York City Board of Education to provide vision screenings to elementary school children. As a primary care optometrist, practicing for the past 20 years, she is able to provide her patients with all their eye care needs including medical management of chronic and acute eye conditions such as glaucoma and infections as well as spectacle refractions. Dr. Cohen also co-manages refractive Lasik, PRK, and Kamra surgery patients. She is also proficient in fitting soft, rigid and specialty contact lenses including keratoconus fitting and corneal refractive therapy (CRT). She thoroughly enjoys providing quality eye care in a friendly and caring manner. Dr. Cohen loves to go hiking with her family where she tries to brush up on her bird watching. She also loves to curl up with a good book on rainy days.
